Gatsby Bar & Restaurant

Chijmes is often my preferred venue for a quiet dinner with nice ambience way back since China Jump was still around. Come weekends, the outdoor seating at the basement will be filled with football fans cheering their teams on while watching the match on the projector screens towards the fountain area.

A few years back I went to Gatsby for their valentine's dinner but food was average as expected since set menus were catered for the ocassion. Thus, this was comparatively a more pleasant visit.

For starters we started off with a Tropical Mango with Prawn Salad and Caraway's Camembert. The former wasn't very impressive with thousand island sauce poured onto the prawns on salad with mango syrup so if you must choose only one, go ahead with the Camembert which is a platter of fried cheese with their special cardinal dip.

Next up were Mediterranean Poached Seafood Platter and Ribeye Steak. A portion of garlic bread was served together with the hearty portion of seafood platter to be dipped with the goodness of lots of cream and cheese and the works.

Overall not too bad an experience but the servers were not too sure with the menu as some of my questions regarding the main ingredients of the dish were left unanswered with prices slightly on a higher note taking into the level of food served.
