La Boquería - Barcelona

The Boqueria Market is a great place to visit in Barcelona with a wide array of stalls from fresh meat to the colourful fruits and vegetables. It's a simple pleasure just to walk around and enjoy the sight, sound and smell of this bustling market place.



The interesting part about visiting markets in Europe is that you can experience a face to face encounter with freshly slaughtered animals rather than the processed meat we see in the supermarkets...the piles of the numerous types of seafood on ice...the almost perfect looking fruits and vegetables proudly on display and the irresistible smell of bread products hot from the oven...

Personally I found certain pictures to be quite disturbing...

The pigs on display as if they are smiling at the camera...



Rabbit meat is a delicacy in many parts of Europe and rabbit stew in itself is a popular item during winter season. I have rabbits as pets and so I find it difficult to be near the freshly dead rabbits with blood still dripping from their bodies.



We have curry fish head and perhaps the Spainsh...lamb heads (good for stews as well or so I heard)

As for this, I have absolutely no idea what it is (anyone any idea?) but it makes my hair stand just looking at it! Judging at the price it is not cheap either!

Breakfast & Supper

It's been a long time since I made an effort to go to the local market and since I was there this morning, started the day with fresh seafood salad purchased from a seafood stall where I usually purchase my stuff from.

Iceberg lettuce with scampi, mussels and crab stick with some thousand island dressing...



For some unknown reason, I seems to be having a constant craving for omelette lately and thus with my tummy gumbling for food near midnight...decided to give in to temptation and satisfy myself with the craving...



Sinful I know...but good supper is a crucial element to a good night sleep with sweet dreams...

Willyaki Assorted Sushi

Starting from this semester, a section of the union shop is located to selling ready made sushi and lunch bento by Willyaki which has its permanent location along Portobello Road near the engineering department.

Now...when you face sandwiches, burgers or pasta day in day out, sushi is always a good choice to stay sane...

It's not the best but definitely worth the £3.99 as compared to those from Tesco and Sainsbury.

Another comfort food...hmm...

Chinese New Year - Peng Cai

There are a couple of CNY entries which are long overdue but I figure better late than never :p

These 2 pots of Peng Cai were delivered to our place on new year's eve consisting of a basket of steam fish, roast pork, prawns and crab and a second casserole of shark fin, scallops, abalone and sea cucumber.





A quick and fuss free option for families who choose to have their reunion dinner in the comfort of their homes and crave for a few extra dishes.

At $200+, it is definitely not something which is really worth the money unless on special ocassions as such. Most importantly, chinese new year = you happy i'm happy everyone happy =)
